The Israeli military is set to launch a new cloud computing course this summer to teach the fundamentals of cloud computing, including how to deploy and manage cloud-based systems.
According to The Jerusalem Times, the course, called “Cloud Computing for Modern Military Operations,” will be offered through the IDF’s online platform.
The course will teach students how to use virtual machines, virtualized computing and distributed computing.
In addition to cloud computing fundamentals, the online course also will teach the basic concepts of virtualization, virtualization technologies and virtualization hardware, among other topics.
The course will be taught by Dr. Shaul Meir, who is a specialist in cyber security and cyber operations in the Israeli army, and the course will include lectures by retired Lt.
Gen. Yaakov Peri, a former Israeli military commander.
The new course is being offered by the IDF online platform, which offers a wide range of courses for Israeli military personnel and civilians, including military history and a military intelligence course.
In January, the IDF announced a $1.7 billion funding initiative for the training of future cyberwarriors.
