The aim is to encourage people to spend more time online to improve their skills and also to help them find jobs.
However, the courses are also being used by Australian businesses and are gaining in popularity.
“If you want to be a software engineer, you can go online and work on a project in a short period of time,” said Rob Goggin, CEO of online training platform Udacity.
“You can learn programming in a week.”
Mr Gogin said Udacity was also looking to expand its course offerings and was looking to open up Udacity courses in more cities.
“We’ve seen a big increase in demand from Australian universities,” he said.
“And it’s really exciting for us to be part of the mix, to see this growth from universities in the UK and the US.”
Udacity said its courses were aimed at helping people who want to get into software engineering and were currently teaching online at universities.
“These are the kinds of courses we’re looking to offer,” Mr Gogins said.
He said Udacious had been seeing a surge in interest from businesses looking to hire graduates for its courses.
“When you think about how many companies are looking to do business online, that’s the kind of things they’re looking for,” he explained.
“A lot of companies that would normally only hire people in-person are actually looking to put some of their people online and that’s what’s really cool about it.”
It allows you to get some of those extra benefits like working from home or even on a laptop or tablet, or even a tablet, that would otherwise not be available online.
“While Udacity’s courses are only available for people in the US, there are many other countries around the world offering online computer science programs.”
In Europe and in Australia and other places, we’ve seen an incredible surge in demand,” Mr Tully said.
In Australia, there is a growing trend for companies to offer online courses that students can take on as they are on a full-time basis.”
They can be a great way to train people for entry-level positions,” Mr Cairns said.
Udacious is offering its courses to businesses who want people to be able to get their hands dirty.”
What we’re doing with the Udacity program is really focused on helping people to take on jobs,” Mr Nalder said.
